Good Questions!

Marc Garside has been active in teaching and performing percussion since 1999. Expanding on that, in 2013 he started his own business committing to his passion full-time. EPIC Percussion was born.

At the time, Marc had a drum set and a motorcycle. He sold his motorcycle to buy a marimba and renovated the basement in his house into a lesson studio. In the very beginning he had help from Grant Butters and Nate Hawk. Nate and Grant wouldn't be around long though, as their incredible talents brought them opportunities they had to pursue teaching world class scholastic ensembles in Texas and Virginia. Grant and Nate now stay involved in EPIC from a distance.

That's when Ryan Pritchard got involved and became Marc's business partner. The growth happened almost immediately. Within a few short months EPIC moved out of the basement, and has now outgrown 3 other locations to end up where we are currently located, at 844 W 4th St. in Williamsport, PA.

While growing Mike Wrench walked through the door one day, and he was immediately a part of the team. Mike heads up drum set studies and also specializes in working with students with disabilities through a program he started called Upbeat Outreach.

From there the team eventually grew and evolved into what it is today. We added 5 more staff made up of former students, and currently have around 50 students in the studio. We offer individual lessons, ensembles, and a variety of performing opportunities for students from 8 years old through adult of all abilities and experiences.

In addition to our percussion academy, we also teach and/or design for several high school marching bands, drum corps, and indoor percussion groups from non-competitive styles or A-Class to World-Class competitive styles.

We also sell percussion products. We do not have a warehouse with thousands of items in inventory ready to ship out. No forklifts here. We keep a small inventory of products we use and stand behind, and if you don't need it in two days, we can get just about anything you're looking for within a week usually. While we may not have the speed of Amazon, what we do have is a staff of percussion experts that actually use the products we sell and knows what options are out there to help you find what you need. Our goal is to grow and improve the percussive arts, and helping you helps us do that. When you buy from us, your business helps us do that.

EPIC Seal of Approval

The Tim Fairbanks Firegrain marching sticks are my favorite sticks on the market right now. The nice beefy size and weight gives you a full and dark sound without working too hard for it. Great rebound, and it's one of the most durable sticks I've ever played with. I don't even tape them up. The firegrain look is unique as well.
